Friday 5th April saw a successful launch event for the new novel by Winter & Drew author Valerie Lawson.

The Ship Sailed On is a colourful thriller set on a 1960s cruise ship, with boozy parties, diamond smuggling – and murder.

Around 30 people attended at the Port Royal pub on Exeter Quay to hear a passage from the book being read, and the author being interviewed by Jonathan Posner of Winter & Drew Publishing.

Valerie Lawson then signed lots of copies for buyers, many of whom then stayed on for a pleasant drink and chat.

At the end of May, Valerie had a birthday, and a cake was made featuring her book cover!

Valerie first approached Winter & Drew Publishing with a view to helping her publish the book that she had written some years before. She worked with Jonathan Posner with a developmental edit of the manuscript, then with Rosetta Westbrook to create the colourful cover.

“I wrote a book called The Ship Sailed On a few years ago, and always wanted to have it published professionally.
Jonathan Posner of Winter & Drew Publishing read the manuscript, and agreed to help me self-publish the book using his Winter & Drew Publishing imprint.
We worked closely on the manuscript, and we came to agreement on a new draft ready for publication. Jonathan helped organise an editor, a cover designer, formatting and a proof reader, as well as a well-attended launch event.
The designer produced a great cover that really caught the eye, so when the book was launched and published on Amazon, we had some strong initial sales and great reviews.
