About the Author

Word Kitchen is the partnership that has edited The Power of Place anthology.

Founded by David Lloyd and Pippa Marriott, Word Kitchen not only produces anthologies, it also runs open mics, author talks, online and in-person writing sessions, and a two-day Writers’ Hub as part of Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival. This includes talks, discussions, exhibitors and writing sessions.

Word Kitchen also curates the international competition the Exeter Novel Prize, as part of their drive to support current and emerging writers at different stages of their writing journeys. The aim is to create environments which allow writers to share work, support each other, connect and create. Projects like The Power of Place are very much a part of this; helping to attract a diverse range of writers and voices.

Word Kitchen also develops spoken word and other events, workshops and networks to grow connection, confidence and wellbeing through literature, story-sharing and storytelling.
