A new family saga set in the 1970s

At Winter & Drew we’re delighted to have published a new family saga novel, called The Barmouth Affairs, by Vanessa M. Tanner. Set in 1974 mainly in the Welsh seaside town of Barmouth, it’s a charming and uplifting family saga of life, love, relationships – and two women’s search for happiness.

The book came out on 1st December 2024. It’s a ‘slice of life’ read, highlighting how real women manage relationships. Full of nostalgia, The Barmouth Affairs beautifully evokes the atmosphere of Britain in the 1970s.

Author Vanessa M. Tanner says: “This story is very close to my heart. It’s a universal tale; men being unfaithful, while their wives have to carry on with their daily lives and raise their families. How do women manage? By bringing in their friends and families – and by showing their true courage and fortitude. It’s a universal theme, but one I wanted to explore in my own way, using characters and events from my own childhood as a starting point.”

With suggested questions for Book Club readers, it makes an ideal book for group read and discussion.
