About Keith
Keith has had a long career as a journalist, with decades of experience in Africa and Britain, including nearly 18 years on The Times and The Sunday Times. He has written for magazines, national and regional newspapers on topics ranging from science and the environment to politics.
During several years working on the foreign news section of The Times he developed a lasting and keen interest in the world beyond British shores. His novel The Chaos Game, set mainly in Crete, is a deep-dive into Greek culture.
He became an Associate Publisher with Winter & Drew Publishing because he saw that the gatekeepers of traditional publishing were excluding large swathes of authors and readers. At the other extreme, he believes self-publishing forces writers to divert their energies into things like formatting, cover design and marketing, instead of focusing on their writing.
Keith enjoys reading literary thrillers, literary fiction, speculative fiction, and intelligent science fiction. A random selection of favourite authors includes Matt Haig, E. Annie Proulx, Louis de Bernières, Frederik Backman. He is looking forward to the next novels from Paula Hawkins and Delia Owens.
He welcomes stories that delve into the complexities of societies other than his own. He is also open to some non-fiction, including: science, the sea, filmmaking and cinematography. Favourite non-fiction writers include Stephen Taylor (Commander), Jared Diamond, and Stephen J. Gould.
If you have something fresh to say in any of these genres, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Keith is not interested in taking on authors who specialise in: historical fiction, crime and police procedural, children and young people, or romance. If you have a manuscript in these genres check out Jonathan Posner, William Telford, or Jason Mann’s biographies.
