About Jason
Jason’s first introduction into mystery and thriller books was Enid Blyton’s Rat-a-Tat Mystery when he was nine years old. His battered copy has still pride of place on his bookshelf.
Today, he writes thriller crime novels set on Cornwall’s wild coast and bleak moorlands, as JH Mann. Growing up in Bude, the stories recounted by his mother and father and his own adventures are the inspiration for his novels.
His first novel, Hidden Depths, was an award winner in a leading American competition, called the North Street Book Prize, and was one of seven novels shortlisted for the 2024 Selfies Book Awards.
Jason’s second Cornish novel, The Echoing Shore, was an award winner in the 2023 Yeovil Literary Prize, one of the UK’s longest established novel competitions.
Aside from his creative writing, Jason is an award-winning journalist with a career in regional newspapers, such as the Herald Express and Western Morning News. As head of BT’s regional communications, he led a team of press officers across the UK.
His awards include being named Best New Editor by the British Association of Industrial Editors.
When he is not writing, Jason is a long-distance swimmer and a shore-based volunteer for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
Jason has a particular interest in novels where landscape and scenery play an important part in the story.
